Additional Activities

A sun-kissed city by the sea, Australia’s Gold Coast is a place defined by an unmistakable energy.

Each year, over 13 million visitors flock to the city, eager to soak up the sun, feel the sand between their toes and take part in the near-limitless range of attractions and experiences. With 57 kilometres of sand and surf, 100,000 hectares of World Heritage listed rainforests, award winning dining, active pursuits and an ever evolving calendar, along with more than 300 days of sunshine, the Gold Coast is the perfect destination to add a few extra days pre or post conference. We have listed some stand-out experiences below. To learn more, visit DestinationGoldCoast.com

Whale Watching

The best time for Whale Watching is August, as it's the peak time for whale migration and when mating season is in full swing. There are several Gold Coast operators providing whale watching tours, which run seasonally (late May to October) departing from many locations including Surfers Paradise and Main Beach. Whales can also easily be spotted from the shore at some of the Gold Coast’s headlands and during whale season, if you are underwater, you may also hear them singing.

HOTA, Home of the Arts

Surrounded by tropical parklands with the Surfers Paradise skyline as the backdrop, HOTA, Home of the Arts is a contemporary cultural precinct in the heart of the Gold Coast. It’s your place for live performances, lake-side strolls, star-gazing, cinema-watching, art and new ideas. During the conference

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary

Experience the magic of the Gold Coast's renowned Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.  Immerse yourself in the wonder of Australian wildlife as you explore the sanctuary's interactive displays and expansive enclosures. Wander through lush eucalyptus groves and enchanting rainforest environments, where every step unveils a new marvel of nature.

Aquaduck Gold Coast

Departing from Surfers Paradise, the iconic Aquaduck remains Australia’s first and finest amphibious adventure.  The tour begins on land, where guests can witness the famous ‘Surfers Paradise’ sign on the renowned beach before experiencing the famous “splash down” as the Aquaduck seamlessly transitions from land to water.

Jellurgal Cultural Centre

Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre is based at the foot of Burleigh Head National Park, alongside pristine Tallebudgera Creek.  Take a walk through the informative boardwalk story board display and explore the traditional lives of the Yugambeh speaking people.  At the centre, you can browse through paintings in the gallery and see Aboriginal artefacts. You can also purchase authentic souvenirs from the Jellurgal Gift Shop.

Pacific Fair Shopping Centre

Pacific Fair is the Gold Coast's unmissable shopping and dining destination. With 400 stores, Pacific Fair offers a captivating blend of the world’s best brands, set amongst tropical landscapes and a unique outdoor ambience.

The complimentary Visitor Privileges Pass provides exclusive retailer offers and there is a free shuttle bus. Pacific Fair is just a short walk from Broadbeach South G: Link station and the conference venue.
